Recap: Cornhole Kicks Hunger at Turf Paradise

On December 14, we ran the Cornhole Kicks Hunger tournament at Turf Paradise in Phoenix. After a rainy November and early December, we lucked out with a beautiful day for the 71 teams who competed in the two stage event. In the first stage, teams played a four game round robin. Results from Stage 1 separated the teams into either the Upper Division or Lower Division single elimination tournament.

UPPER DIVISION
1st place: Jared and Jose (9-0)
2nd place: Tino and Wawwies (8-1)
3rd place: Jimmy and Jason (7-2)

LOWER DIVISION
1st place: Jared and Alan (7-2)
2nd place: Aiden and Moses (5-4)
3rd place: Jim and Barry (6-3)

Also at the event, players donated non-perishable goods as part of the ACL's Cornhole Kicks Hunger campaign. A handful of people donated money so we went to the store and purchased additional items with those funds. The items benefit the St. Mary's Food Bank in Phoenix. Anyone who participated was entered into a raffle for a free entry into an upcoming cornhole tournament. Congratulations to Bryan Burk for having his ticket pulled. He opted to take a free entry into the 2020 Arizona State Cornhole Championships. Thank you for everyone who participated in the food drive.
