Recap: Pub N Grub Block Party Cornhole Tournaments

On May 19, we ran three different cornhole tournaments at the Pub N Grub Block Party. What started out as a toasty day eventually turned into a cool spring night where the players got their fill of throwing bags.

SINGLES
The first competition of the day was our ACL Regional Singles event. We decided to offer this as a free entry event where newer players who might be new to the singles format could test out their skills against some of the top players in the state. Doug Z. double-dipped Michael M. in the finals for his 4th regional singles win of the season, 7th regional win overall. Click HERE to see the full bracket.

SOCIAL DOUBLES
The next event of the day was a social doubles tournament. We ran this event as a Two-Stage event guaranteeing every team at least 5 games. First, the 16 teams competed in pool play where they competed in matches against the other three teams in their group. All 16 teams were seeded by their pool play record into a double elimination tournament where the top four teams won prizes. Chrissy & Dave ended up double-dipping Timothy & Luis in the finals to take down the top prize. The entire tournament can be seen HERE.

FIVE PLAYER TEAM COMPETITION
In our last event of the night we ran a team competition where teams of five (or six) played against each of the other teams in doubles and singles matches. Team Drea jumped out to the lead with an 8-4 record after the first full round but Team Hadley claimed victory after they dominated the second full round going 10-2 and finishing with an overall record of 17-7.

1st Place: Team Hadley (17-7)
2nd Place: Team Flores and Team Zafft (12-9)

We have ONE event left before we break for the summer - The 2018 Arizona State Cornhole Championships on June 15-16. Divisions include:

• Juniors doubles (13 and under)
• High School doubles
• Women singles
• Seniors singles (55+)
• Beginner/social singles and doubles
• Intermediate singles and doubles
• Advanced singles and doubles
