The ACL Arizona State Cornhole Championships took place on May 21, 2016 as part of the 2nd Annual Lemonade Days in Queen Creek, AZ - http://kbkornhole.com/az-state-championship. There were four different championship events, each open to the public, that allowed baggers at all skill levels the opportunity to compete in an organized event. Over $2000 in cash and prizes were awarded to the tournament champions. Winners of the Open Singles and Advanced Doubles championships also won an entry into the American Cornhole League’s (ACL) Championship of Bags tournament on July 21-24 in North Carolina - http://www.iplaycornhole.com/cobs. The event will be streamed live on ESPN3 to the public. Check out our Facebook page for event images. 2016 Arizona State Cornhole Champions Open Singles Division Advanced Doubles Division Women's Singles Division Backyard Baggers DivisionOn Saturday, May 7th, we ran a Team Competition and Skills Challenge to celebrate our 1 year anniversary of planning kornhole events around the valley. The 25 players who participated were split into teams of 5 where they competed in singles and doubles games against the other five-man teams. Points were awarded for each victory. In the end, Five Knuckle Shuffle, led by Doug Z, took home the $500 prize pool with a 9-3 record. The team included of Doug Z, Wes N., Matthew B., Scott W., and Todd K., filling in to make the teams even.
During the event, the players completed a skills challenge where the winner with a $100 prize. It was close, with the top four players being separated by only two points. Congratulations to Mike T. (109pts) for winning the challenge. Doug Z. and David P. tied for second (108pts) and Jack E. came in fourth (107pts). The event was a blast! We want to thank everyone who came out to support us at the event and throughout the last year. We're excited for the next year and the continued progress that we are going to make in growing the game of cornhole in Arizona. |
